Naruto Episode 167: Win, or Fail?

Naruto Shippuden episode 167 had alot of potential, but alot of people were upset with the entire episode and with good reason. The episode was directed by Atsushi Wakabayashi, who also worked on alot of other popular shows like Yu Yu Hakusho. He has a huge reputation for animation in Japan.

Here's a picture from the episode, it's a scene where Pain yells "My pain is greater than yours!", which is ironic because after seeing this episode I was sort of thinking the same thing.

My Pain is greater than yours!!!
Yes, that is an actual frame from the episode, but this is'nt just a one time thing thats hardly noticeable, there are numerous scenes in this episode that are poorly drawn and just dont end up making alot of sence. Here is a video of SOME of the most noticeable mistakes from Naruto episode 167.

As you can see there are alot of things that dont look right. Wakabayashi really did a number on the Naruto series, for one, there are scenes where Pain shows anger and emotion, but in the manga Pain is just a corpse and shows no emotion. But the biggest problem with this episode is that Pain does'nt die.  Yes he is a corpse and so were the other Pains, but the other 5 pains were killed by rasengan, and punches. This final Pain seems to be indestructible as 6 tailed Naruto smashes a 500 tun bolder on his head repeatedly.

The director of this episode did'nt seem to know alot about the Naruto series and this really doesnt seem like Masashi Kishimotos vision as you see it in the manga. When it comes to  Atsushi Wakabayashi, reputation aside, this episode is a fail.

But what do you think about this episode of Naruto Shippuden? Was it too over the top, or was it even bettert than you expected?
