Attack On Titan Is Overrated!

Attack On Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin) is by far the most overrated anime series of all time!

In case you're not familiar with the series... AOT is a story about a young man who watches his mother get eaten alive by these monstrous giants known as 'titans.' As a result, Erin Jeager, the main, develops a disdain towards the titans... As if anyone in their right mind would be fond of giant man eating zombies...

Having this traumatic experience somehow allows Erin to become a complete badass just a few years later. You see, because when we first meet Erin Jeager he is a prepubescent adolescent. He was a scrawny young chap, who was often bullied by the other children; as a result he would usually have to be saved by his good friend, Mikasa...

Despite his physical short comings, we later find an older Erin, in his mid teens, and while he still appears a prepubescent young man, he has now developed the ability to completely demolish those man eating titans. As if that wasn't enough fuel for your poorly written fire, Erin later develops the ability to turn into a titan himself! ...Now he's fallen into the hypocritical trap of self hatred.

The appeal of seeing preteens swing large swords at insanely large creatures? It probably has something to do with the current state of anime as a whole, which has fallen into the insidious way of "fan service" and overly perverse content. Considering this, AOT is a much needed breath of fresh air for anime fans. The result? A series that would normally be "meh," at best, suddenly becomes "the best thing since sliced bread." But I digress...
